What is a Critical Fall Height?
A critical fall height (CFH) is the highest point of fall from play equipment to the ground, when the equipment is being used correctly. Although meeting a specified critical fall height minimises the severity of injury, it does not prevent injury. Councils, schools, childcare centres and other facilities have a duty of care to provide and maintain play areas that meet Australian Standards.
The calculator will provide a surface thickness to meet the selected CFH, which is broken down in to necessary thickness for the top layer and base layer.
